Thoughts For The Day…

Wouldn’t it be helpful…

Wouldn’t it be helpful if President Barack Obama were to reach out to those still demonstrating over President-elect Donald Trump’s win and simply remind them this is our democracy in action and that they had their opportunity to vote just as did we all?  Maybe he could shame these poor ‘children’ into realizing they make fools of themselves and do us no favors by continuing their foolishness.

Two Wisconsin favorite sons have had significant impact…

Rep. Paul Ryan (R), who is about to stand for re-election as Speaker of the House, and Reince Priebus who has been named to the very important role as Chief of Staff are favorite sons from Wisconsin.  It is comforting to know that these two solid badger-state leaders have such important roles in helping our new President acclimate and govern.  Rep. Ryan, of course, has to ward off a group of some 40 pouting House Republican members who perennially threaten to destroy his role as Speaker.  Let us hope the House majority is strong enough to stand up to that threat once again.  Our new President can certainly use the resources of this dynamic duo as he assumes the role as our nation’s leader.

President-Elect Trump forswears accepting his rightful salary…

Our next President has stated again that he will take a $1 token salary thus saving us taxpayers some $399,999 per year.  That seems a magnanimous gesture.  A pundit has mentioned that Hillary Clinton would probably be happy to have that for the Clinton Foundation.

Who will be first…

Who will be the first U.S. Supreme Court appointee by the new President?  He has set forth a list of well-qualified conservative judges from which he has indicated the replacements would be selected.  And how many of the present justices will decide to hang up their robes in the next three years?

How long will it take…

How long will it take for all the citizens of the United States to simply accept the results of this election and get back to their normal lives?  True, Donald Trump was a unique candidate but he did get the majority of the Electoral College votes and he is the valid President-Elect.  This was  a ‘lesser-of-evils’ kind of election, BUT I have faith that soon-to-be President Donald Trump will prove himself more than capable.  I would have a great deal more concern if Hillary Clinton were the President-Elect.

Will there be yet another Wisconsinite appointee…

Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clark has been rumored as being considered as the appointee to head up the Department of Homeland Security.  He is a solid conservative even though he runs as a Democrat in order to be elected in Milwaukee County.  Maybe a ‘trifecta’ is too much to hope for, and it might be difficult to ride a horse in downtown Washington, D.C. but Clark has defied all the odds up to now.

Will Executive Orders play as important a role…

President Obama has been among the most prolific of our Presidents so far as the issuance of Executive Orders.  He has made significant changes that were never subject to approval by Congress.  President-Elect Trump could, however, relegate many of or all of those Executive Orders to the trash bin after taking office.  Executive orders have the effect of law.  Among other things that have been signed into being are ‘transgender’ bathrooms for example.  It is difficult to begin to think about what another eight years of a Hillary Clinton presidency might’ve wrought through Executive Orders.  I doubt we’d be able to recognize the United States that evolved over that time after sixteen years of liberal ‘rule’.
